IPL 2020 Schedule Changed : Chennai Super Kings will now not play the opening game of IPL 2020

It is getting from bad to worse for both the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). along side quite dozen Covid-19 positives within the team, CSK has now also lost the services of their crisis man & the vice captain Suresh Raina. Raina as declared by CSK won't be available for complete season of IPL 2020 due to personal reasons and has already returned to India.

Due to these unfortunate developments, MS Dhoni led CSK won't be seen within the opening game of IPL 2020. it's worth noting that, CSK was scheduled to play Mumbai Indians within the opening game of the 13th edition of IPL 2020 consistent with the sooner released schedule by BCCI.

It was being speculated not only by the media but also confirmed by the IPL players themselves that the opening game of the IPL 2020 are going to be contested by two of the foremost successful teams in IPL i.e 4 times champions Mumbai Indians & 3 time winner Chennai Super Kings. Captain of the Mumbai team Rohit Sharma himself had confirmed the news via his twitter update.

But now consistent with the sources, BCCI has decided to vary the schedule to offer CSK longer to recoup from the continued crisis in their camp.

CSK which is now under complete quarantine for subsequent 6 days can’t resume practice till all of the players test negative after completion of the quarantine period. this suggests albeit all goes well, CSK can resume practice only by the center of subsequent week.

Not only this, CSK players who have tested positive are going to be in quarantine for next fortnight . Over and above this, a number of the CSK squad members are playing in CPL 2020 and may only join the team after completion of 6 day quarantine in Dubai on either 17th-18th August.

This is the rationale , BCCI will not feature CSK within the opening game of the IPL 2020 and rather Mumbai Indians will face another team.

’They will not be in a position to contest the opening game of the IPL 2020. we will give CSK few more days to come out of this setback’, said one among the BCCI official.

The unfortunate development round the CSK team also will peg BCCI back in their preparations for the graceful conduct of IPL 2020. The schedules of IPL 2020 are already awaited for an extended time and now it'll get delayed further.

The IPL 2020 is simply 20 days and it had been expected that the much delayed schedule are going to be announced on Saturday. The IPL Governing Council Chairman Brijesh Patel currently in Dubai also had confirmed that the schedules are going to be released before Sunday. But now consistent with a report by TOI claims that IPL 2020 schedules and fixtures announcement may get delayed further thanks to unfortunate turn of events within the CSK camp.

“Adequate measures are in place to tackle the situation and there is no immediate threat to the tournament. But the announcement of fixtures has been delayed because of this development,” a top BCCI source told TOI.
