IPL 2020: In words, all well that ends well! But these few words are totally incompatible with Chennai Super Kings in this season's IPL. Because now Mahendra Singh Dhoni's team has no advantage in winning the match. The play-off is now a nightmare for them. Yet I can't get up myself, I won't let anyone else get up either. Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings proved that by beat  Kolkata Knight Riders in Dubai.

IPL 2020: RR vs CSK: Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Super Kings by 7 wickets

Chennai have looked under the weather this season and also the defeat against Rajasthan had pushed them to the bottom of the IPL 2020 points table.

IPL 2020: Rajasthan Royals recorded a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings, riding on Jos Buttler's unbeaten 48-ball 70 after their bowlers' parsimonious display within the Indian Premier League match no. 37 on Monday in Abu Dhabi . The win kept RR's play-off hopes alive while leaving their beleaguered opponents on the verge of elimination.

RR restricted the three-time champions CSK to a modest 125/5 after being invited to bowl then overcame the target in 17.3 overs, thanks to a 98-run fourth-wicket partnership between Buttler and skipper Steve Smith - 26. It turned out to be a superb day for Buttler, who sent back Faf du Plessis with a fantastic catch earlier in the day.

Early wickets were the necessity of the hour for CSK while defending such a low total and the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side did exactly that by reducing RR to 28 for 3 inside five overs.

Ben Stokes - 19 started on a bright note before inside-edging a Deepak Chahar delivery on to his stumps and an over later, Robin Uthappa was sent back by Josh Hazlewood as the right-hander went for an extravagant scoop over wicketkeeper Dhoni, who was playing his 200th IPL game.

After shining early within the tournament, Sanju Samson continued to disappoint with the bat, departing for a duck. Buttler and Smith joined hands and played cautiously initially. While Buttler was the aggressor, Smith played the second fiddle in the partnership.

Opting to bat, CSK never got going and lacked the firepower to put up an honest score after being reduced to 56 for four in 10 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja top-scored for CSK with a 30-ball unbeaten 35 and skipper Dhoni made a run-a-ball 28 while adding 51 runs for the fifth wicket. Jofra Archer - 1/20 was terrific with the new ball but he would be disappointed along with his outing on the field.

Besides Archer, the spin duo of Shreyas Gopal - 1/14 and Rahul Tewatia - 1/18 were economical in the middle overs, while young Kartik Tyagi - 1/35 too was impressive.

Dhoni's decision to bat first backfired as RR picked up wickets at regular intervals to make life difficult for CSK.

CSK lost the in-form Faf du Plessis - 10 in the third over, caught by Jos Buttler off Archer then an over later, Shane Watson was sent back by Kartik. Opening the batting again, Sam Curran made 22 off 25 balls before being dismissed by Gopal.

After that, a lot relied on Ambati Rayudu but he too disappointed, perishing in the next over off Tewatia's bowling as CSK slumped to 56 for four.

Dhoni and Jadeja tried their best to resurrect the innings then up the ante, but it proved to be too little too late. Dhoni was run-out in search of a double within the 18th over.

Kedar Jadhav continued to struggle with the bat as RR bowlers didn't give the CSK batsmen any leeway.

IPL 2020: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 37 runs to register their fourth win in the tournament. Winning the toss and winning the first batting, Bangalore had challenged Chennai to 170 runs thanks to captain Virat Kohli's unbeaten 90-run innings. But the team of Superkings were able to score 132 runs after losing 8 wickets in the prescribed 20 overs.

Virat was adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant innings. After Virat, Chris Morris (3/19) took three wickets and Washington Sundar (2/16) for RCB. This is the 5th defeat of the Superkings this season, while half their journey (7 matches) has been completed in the tournament. This time it seems difficult for CSK to reach the playoffs every time in IPL.

Chennai opening pair has caught a good rhythm. But in today's match, once both the openers needed a good start, they could not do so this time. First of all, Faf Duplessis (8) was caught by Chahal to Chris Morris. It was not too late after that Washington Sundar bowled Shane Watson (14). This was CSK's second setback in Powerplay.

Early after losing two wickets in the CSK innings, Ambati Rayudu and Jagdishan duo handled it well. Both shared a 64-run partnership for the third wicket. Both had managed the innings but now the pressure of rung was increasing. Here both batsmen had taken charge as per the need that Jagadishan, playing his first match, was run out on the throw of Chris Morris. It was Chennai's third setback at a score of 89. Jagadishan scored 33 runs in 28 balls.

This season, skipper MS Dhoni, who has been facing constant criticism for his form and team's performance, landed at No. 5 in this match. When Dhoni came to the crease, his team was still under pressure. Mr. Game Changer (Dhoni) scored 10 runs in 6 ball innings. He got caught in the spin of clever clever Yuzvendra Chahal.Hit a six on Chahal, rotated the shot for the second six. But Chahal, realizing his intentions, threw the ball out at the last minute. Due to this Dhoni's shot could not gather full strength and Gurkirat Singh, standing near the boundary line, caught his catch and ended his innings. When Dhoni was out, CSK needed 64 off 24 balls to win. Under the pressure, the remaining batsmen could not do anything special and after Dhoni, the 5 batsmen who came on batting could not even touch the double digit.

captain Virat Kohli was in the fight Royals innings till the last ball,

before winning the toss and batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli's 90-run aggressive half-century. With the help of 169 runs for 4 wickets. Kohli faced 52 balls during his innings, which included 4 fours and 4 sixes. Opener Devdutt Padikkal contributed 33 runs in 34 balls (2 fours and 1 six). Kohli shared 53 runs for the second wicket with Padikkal and then 76 runs for the 5th wicket with Shivam Dubey (22 not out).

Bangalore opener Aaron Finch (02) was once again unsuccessful. In front of Deepak Chahar's inswinger, he did not move the front foot at all and this ball uprooted his stumps. Finch was thus dismissed for the third time in the Powerplay. Now Kohli was at the crease. Despite the presence of Kohli and Padiqcl, the team's score in powerplay was 36 for one wicket. Padiqqal scored the first six of the innings in long on off Karn Sharma's good length ball in the 10th over, leaving the team score 65 runs for one wicket after 10 overs.

The slow run pace in the middle overs has been a problem for the team for the last few matches and as soon as Padiqkal started to get aggressive, in the very next over, in an effort to play Shardul Thakur's ball high in mid-off, he was able to play Faf du Plessis Gave out easy catch to. On the fifth ball of the 11th over, AB de Villiers also came running, he could not even open the account and the ball kissed the edge of his bat directly into the hands of wicketkeeper Dhoni.

The second six of the innings was scored by Washington Sundar in the 13th over. The run speed began to increase slightly. Kohli started the next over by picking up Sam Karan for a six. In the same over, Karan got Sundar caught after one ball by the wicketkeeper, who scored the same number of runs with a six off 10 balls. Kohli completed his 38th IPL half-century in 39 balls, sending the ball of Shardul Thakur to the backward square leg for a four off the final ball of the 17th over. After this Virat played the next 14 balls and added 40 runs.

IPL 2020: Rahul Tripathi celebrated his promotion to the top by striking a 51-ball 81 as Kolkata Knight Riders returned to winning ways with a 10-run victory over Chennai Super Kings within the Indian Premier League on Wednesday.

Tripathi stood tall on the way to his fifth IPL fifty before KKR faltered within the back end of the innings and were bowled out for 167.

In reply, CSK were stopped at 157 for five. Having restored his confidence with a whirlwind 83 not out against Kings XI Punjab, veteran CSK opener Shane Watson picked up from where he had left to slam a 40-ball 50, his 21st within the lucrative league.

Watson feasted on the short-ball strategy of KKR bowlers in a 69-run partnership with Ambati Rayudu (30 from 27 balls).

Needing 78 runs within the last 10 overs, the CSK duo departed after adding just two runs, while Mahendra Singh Dhoni, beginning to bat at No 4, got out for 11.

Sam Curran hit 17 from 11 balls, but that wasn't enough as CSK fell short. The win catapulted KKR to the third place within the table with three wins from five matches, while CSK remained at five with four points from six games.

Earlier, CSK staged an interesting comeback as KKR lost three wickets within the last over with 'birthday boy' Dwayne Bravo removing two of them for a powerful 3/37.

Tripathi raced to his fifty in 31 balls to allow KKR a solid foundation after Dinesh Karthik opted to bat.

At 93 for 2 at the midway stage, KKR looked set for a giant score but Bravo struck after that.

Leg-spinner Karn Sharma (2/25), Shardul Thakur (2/28), Sam Curran (2/26) claimed two wickets each because the MS Dhoni-led side bounced back within the last 10 overs by taking eight wickets while giving away just 74 runs. Dhoni picked up four catches, the last one being his best effort.

On a Sheikh Zayed Stadium pitch that appeared to slow down, Tripathi played a risk-free knock and maintained a healthy run-rate.

Karthik made a baffling decision to send Sunil Narine before their best batsman, Eoin Morgan, at No 4. However, Narine did his job with a nine-ball 17 before being dismissed by a superb combined effort by a diving Ravindra Jadeja and Faf du Plessis.

Morgan started with a classical cover drive boundary but Curran cut his stay short with a bouncer that climbed in and took a faint edge.

Thakur, who had given the primary breakthrough by dismissing an in-form Shubman Gill (11), claimed the big wicket of Andre Russell with a cross-seam short delivery because the KKR dazzler struggled to get going.

IPL 2020: Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis conjured up commanding unbeaten half-centuries as Chennai Super Kings demolished Kings XI Punjab by 10 wickets to snap their string of losses within the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Dubai on Sunday.

CSK relished a much-needed victory after three defeats in a row, overhauling a 179-run target with remarkable ease.

Watson (83 not out) and Du Plessis (87 not out) ensured that there was no close finish this time, reducing the match to a 'no-contest' with their authoritative batting.

The seasoned Australian punished the KXIP bowlers with 11 fours and three sixes in his 53-ball unbeaten knock while du Plessis hit 11 fours and a six from 53 balls to also remain not out.

Except Mohammed Shami, KXIP didn't have a bowler who could trouble the opposition batsmen and CSK exploited it to the fullest as they moved to sixth spot from bottom with this confidence-boosting win.

Skipper KL Rahul had hit a well-paced 63 to lead Kings XI Punjab to a competitive 178 for four after electing to bat but within the absence of fine bowlers it absolutely was an onerous task to stop the experienced CSK brigade.

Rahul's risk-free 63 came off 52 balls with the help of seven fours and a six as he shared a 61-run stand with fellow opener Mayank Agarwal (26) then raised a 58-run partnership with Nicholas Pooran (33 off 17).

KXIP looked set for a much bigger total but both Pooran and Rahul were dismissed by pacer Shardul Thakur off successive balls within the 18th over.

CSK, like their rivals, also need to a solid start with openers — du Plessis and Watson — creaming off 60 runs within the Powerplay overs.

They didn't exactly set the field on fire but an efficient strokeplay helped them begin the chase in right earnest.

The Aussie-Protea duo blended caution with aggression, picking the right deliveries to attack. They raised the team hundred within the 10th over.

Watson got to his fifty with consecutive boundaries off Chris Jordan while du Plessis raised his own with a single off the same bowler.

With nothing working for KXIP, Watson and du Plessis only became more dominant as the game progressed.

Earlier, Rahul and Agarwal were cautious. No lofted shot was played till the last over of the Powerplay with the 2 batsmen preferring to drive along the ground. It had been also because Deepak Chahar and Sam Curran hardly pitched it short.

Even if Agarwal and Rahul opened their arms it had been to slap the balls outside the off stump, when there was enough room to do that.

CSK captain MS Dhoni introduced spin within the seventh over with Ravindra Jadeja, who created an opportunity too but Agarwal's hit fell just short of a diving du Plessis.

Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla succeeded in getting the breakthrough when Agarwal pulled one straight to Curran. The openers added 61 runs in 8.1 overs.

Mandeep Singh, playing his first game of the season, joined his skipper and made an impression immediately. He creamed off two sixes off Chawla within the 11th over to start out the fireworks.

Jadeja soon got rid of dangerous-looking Mandeep, who scored 27 off 16 balls.

Rahul, who had adopted a risk-free approach till then, completed his half-century with a six off Thakur and followed that up with a four. Pooran too looked for boundaries as KXIP began the acceleration.

The West Indian hit three sixes in his short 33-run knock, which ended while searching for another big shot off Thakur. He added 58 runs with Rahul, who was out next ball, caught behind. it was Dhoni's 100th catch in IPL.
